In 1999, Britt-Marie-Stegs founded the meat concept and brand Hälsingestintan. The range of meats in the stores were, in reality, in desperate need of improvement and Swedish quality meat was almost impossible to procure. Although a large number of Swedish breeders already held high-class animal husbandry and meat quality, almost no meat was sorted in abattoirs and in the stores practically only anonymous beef was available.
This spurred Britt-Marie to develop a new concept of Swedish quality meat and it became the foundation for Hälsingestintan – to provide and make quality Swedish meats available to consumers around the country.
Today Hälsingestintan delivers quality meat from the country’s top breeders to customers throughout the country and demand is growing steadily. Hälsingestintan is a driver to consumers to encourage the eating of ethically produced, high quality meat of Swedish origin that ensures biodiversity and the open landscape.
More and more consumers are making active and better choices in what they eat, choosing olive oil, salt, chocolate and coffee from ethical production and now consumers also want to have more to choose from when it comes to meat. The demand for meat with high quality from Swedish farms is growing.
